Our History:

First Baptist Church of Newton came into existence on November 20, 1852, with a small group of people meeting in a log cabin near what is now the downtown square in Newton, Iowa. Our church was one of the first fruits of the American Baptist Home Mission Society. For more than 168 years now, men and women of faith and vision have made it possible for FBC to serve our community and beyond. Throughout our history, FBC has been about people. Each person that comes through our doors is important to us because each one, including you, is important to God.

We are affiliated with the American Baptist Churches, USA. We are part of the Mid-American Region, which includes Iowa and part of Minnesota.
